Switching

Move over without relabeling your stock

1

Keep your barcodes

Your existing barcodes stay in Shopify. EasyScan prints them as they are and only generates new ones for variants that have none.

2

Fix duplicates

Run the store audit to find duplicate barcodes, a known risk with 8-digit variant-ID codes. Then regenerate only the ones that clash.

3

Recreate your label

Choose your printer and roll, add the fields you print today, and save the result as your default template.

Retail Barcode Labels is still available. Shopify has not announced its retirement as of 30 September 2026, so there is no deadline to move. Stocky, Shopify's inventory app, did close on 31 August 2026. If you printed labels from Stocky purchase orders, EasyScan covers that too. Moving from Stocky
Included from the Basic plan, $9.99 a month. Basic covers unlimited barcode and SKU generation, unlimited label printing and saved label templates. Every plan starts with a 10-day free trial when your store is eligible. Compare plans

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Is Shopify discontinuing Retail Barcode Labels?

Not as far as we know. Shopify had announced no retirement as of 30 September 2026. The Shopify app that did close is Stocky, on 31 August 2026.

Do I have to change my existing barcodes?

No. EasyScan prints the barcodes already on your products and only fills empty barcode fields, unless you choose to overwrite them.

Can I keep both apps installed?

Yes. Both read the same barcode field in Shopify, so you can try EasyScan alongside Retail Barcode Labels before you switch.

Does EasyScan support the same Dymo and Zebra labels?

Yes. EasyScan includes every Dymo, Zebra and Avery label that Retail Barcode Labels lists, plus sizes it doesn't support, such as Dymo 30334 and Brother DK rolls.

How much does EasyScan cost?

Label printing, barcode and SKU generation are included from the Basic plan at $9.99 a month, with a 10-day free trial when your store is eligible.

Try EasyScan alongside Retail Barcode Labels
