How To Create A Cart Value Rule With EasyGift

Cart value rules are the simplest EG rule. When a customer's cart reaches the value you set, the reward is added to the cart or offered in a popup.

In this article, we'll explain how to set one up.

Step 1: Create Your Rule

• From the Shopify admin, open the EG app.
• Click Create rule and give your new rule a name you'll recognise.

Step 2: Set Your Rule Trigger

• Select Cart value from the options.

• Enter the cart value that triggers the reward. The value is in your store's default currency.
• For tiered promotions, add an upper cart value limit so the rule only applies between two values. See stepped rules.

Step 3: Rule Trigger Options

• Remove added products when the trigger is no longer met – if the cart drops below the threshold, EG removes the reward. This option must be on if you use an EG automatic discount.
• Stack rewards – lets the reward be added more than once as the cart value grows. You can set a maximum trigger limit.
• Only execute the rule once per session – the rule fires once per visit, even if the conditions are met again later, unless the browser cookies are cleared.

Step 4: Choose Your Rule Action

• Automatically add products to cart – EG adds the reward for the customer.
• Show a popup – the customer chooses from the products or variants you offer. Available on paid plans.
• Then select the reward products and the quantity to add. Reward products must be available on your Online Store sales channel and in stock.

Step 5: Rule Action Options

• Prevent customers adding the reward outside the rule – only EG can add the reward to the cart. Use this to protect free or discounted items. (This has been tested extensively, but we can't give a 100% guarantee on themes that aren't Shopify-approved.)
• Show a notification – EG can show a short message when the reward is added.

Step 6: Choose Whether To Discount Your Reward

Choose an EG automatic discount (recommended), a Shopify automatic discount, a Shopify promo code, or no discount. No discount is only available for auto-add rewards that are already priced at zero, or for popup upsells sold at full price. See How to create a discount for your EG rule for details.

Step 7: Schedule

• Run the rule continuously, or set a start and end date.

Step 8: Save Your Rule

• Click Save, then test the rule on your store.
