If you want to use the Shopify POS with a barcode scanner on your iPad or mobile device then Shopify requires you to use the Socket Mobile series devices.
To connect to Shopify POS you must use the Socket Mobile device in Application Mode. However when using EasyScan you may find that the barcodes do not show up.
This is because the Shopify POS or Shopify Mobile App is paired directly with the scanner in Application Mode and doesn't 'relinquish control' to other apps within the Shopify App.
This is incredibly frustrating, however by placing the Socket Mobile device into Basic Mode you are able to use it as expected with EasyScan.
If you have already connected your Socket Mobile device in Application Mode then this will require you to remove it from your Mobile device and then re-add it, also it may require resetting the Socket Mobile device to factory settings.
1. Power on the Socket Mobile Scanner. Make sure it is discoverable (unpaired and Bluetooth LED blinking).
2. Go to Settings > Bluetooth on your iPad (or mobile device).
3. Make sure the Bluetooth setting is “On” and scanning for devices.
4. In the list of found devices, tap S740 [xxxxxx] (or S700 [xxxxxx] ) to Pair.
5. The Socket Mobile Scanner will connect to the host device.6.
The Socket Mobile Scanner will beep once after it has connected.

Once your Socket Mobile device is in basic mode it acts like a keyboard and should be picked up by the Apple Notes app and our EasyScan app. However, please note that it now won't work for creating orders in the Shopify POS App. To make it work with Shopify POS please switch it back to Application Mode.
Don't forget that EasyScan will work with any scanner that is able to input data into an Excel file on desktop, or Notes App on your iOS device. These are often a lot cheaper than the Socket Mobile devices as well. Just make sure the scanner can connect to your device, and is able to 'Act as a keyboard' when connected.
