Bin locations are a great way to speed up your fulfilment and inventory management processes. It makes sure that your warehouse team can quickly identify where products are located. Plus sort your stock by its bin location, optimising your pick route for faster picking.
Bin locations are also referred to as rack locations, and represent the position on a shelf, within a warehouse, where an item is located.
They can also be used to indicate where in your store or stock room an item is located.
EasyScan has the option to assign bin locations to your products through the use of Shopify's Metafields, don't worry its very easy to set up!
You can assign up to 10 products at a time to a bin location. But there is no limit to the total number of products that can be assigned to a single bin location.
You can set your bin locations at either a Product or Product Variant level, it is important to set this before you start.
It is simple to assign bin locations to your products. Here I will explain the fastest way to add bin locations to your products.
It's simple to edit bin locations. Add your products by either scanning or manually selecting them with the product picker. Then change the "Bin location value" and click "Set bin location". If any of your products have already got a bin location assigned the a modal will pop-up asking if you want to overwrite the bin information.
Now you have set up your product bin locations you can view this information within EasyScan.
Head to settings and turn on "Show bin location" under 'Order fulfilment view' and 'Inventory products'. The product bin location will show as a blue badge when the product is scanned.
